My Journey

Early Days

remember stretching a 30-meter-long cable from my mom’s business phone to my computer, captivated by this new thing called the Internet. Early on, I realized I couldn’t stay away from it. What struck me most was how quickly data could move across this vast network and how easily it could be stored.

Constraints

It didn’t take long for me to understand the significance of data—and how rapidly it was growing. Before owning a CD recorder, I often had to erase my entire 10GB hard drive just to make space for new information. This opened my eyes to the fact that we were entering an era where data would be produced at an unprecedented scale. The question that haunted me was: What could we do with all this data?

University

In 2000, I started looking for degrees related to data, and that’s when I discovered Statistics and Information Management at Nova IMS. It was a unique program, with only 40 students accepted each year. While it wasn’t a well-known degree at the time, I knew it was the start of my journey in learning how to harness and understand data.

Battle

Graduating in 2006 wasn’t easy. I struggled to grasp the concepts in the early stages of the course; my mind just couldn’t make sense of it all. But with persistence, the fog lifted. Over time, the abstract ideas became concrete, and the puzzle started to make sense. I pieced it all together, and the journey continues.

The Olist project involves analyzing data from a Brazilian e-commerce marketplace, focusing on customer behavior, sales trends, and product performance. This project has provided me with hands-on experience in cleaning, visualizing, and interpreting large datasets, helping to drive business insights.
